When Chiara and Les started planning their wedding in Feb 2020, nobody could possibly have known just how profoundly a new virus was going to affect our daily lives.
The pair had picked out a date and a venue and they were planning to have friends and family come from overseas to help them celebrate their big day.
But come April and the wedding industry – and life as we know it – was thrown into disarray. Restrictions were placed on large gatherings before weddings were cancelled altogether for a period of time.
When their venue refused to return their deposit amid all of the charges, they made a decision to scrap the big wedding idea and instead go for something much more initiate – like an elopement – just the two of them (also the celebrant and Team Divon of cause).
“How about sunrise at Long Reef?” Suggested by Franky, our lead photographer. They may not have been anybody watching on as they tied the knot, but that wasn’t going to stop the couple having a ceremony they will never forget.
A sunrise shoot took a lot of effort and determination. But when they reading their vows when the sun slowly came up, that was the most romantic thing on earth. They spend the rest of the day together, having lunch at Shelly Beach and just taking in the coastal beauty.
“The whole day was just about the two of us – we enjoy it very much.” Chiara says. Just like their private but perfect beachside wedding.
